Welcome to the Zemox Box!
I want to outline on these pages an ecological vision of space colonization. I'm organizing my ideas around five resource metaphores: Space, Time, Matter, Energy, and Information.
Space represents the current environments of space. From what we have learned of life on Earth, life colonizes any environment that it is capable of adapting to. This could mean that any place that we can build space settlements, they will be built.
Time is a limiting and enabling factor for space colonization. How long does it take to develop a colony. What is a colony life cycle? How will colonies evolve in the future? Are we running out of time?
Matter is the meat and bones of space colonization. A space colony can be considered a new form of life with habitats, anatomy, etc. Human society forms an integral part of most colonies. Colonies will have to support healthy lifestyles for colonists. And we need the technology to bind these into a coherent whole.
Energy represents the human will to bring these dreams to fruition. Discussion can be held at the Zemoxian Outpost. We'll pull together plans for people who want to take action, on their own or in groups.
Information is needed to make it happen. That is the goal of this site. I'll also comment on news, ideas, websites, and my philosophy through the Zemoxian Dispatch.
